SSH Tunnel Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-22 (version 3.0.0)

SSH Tunnel is a utility that connects your device to an SSH server that you provide. We operate no servers, no accounts, and no analytics.

The short version

What the app stores, and where

Network traffic

While a tunnel or VPN connection is active, your device's traffic is routed through the SSH server you configured. That server is yours: we do not operate it, cannot access it, and never receive your traffic. What that server's operator (you, or whoever gave you the account) can see is between you and them.

In VPN mode, some traffic deliberately bypasses the tunnel for the device to keep working normally: local-network traffic (printers, AirPlay, other LAN devices) and traffic to Apple's own services (push notifications, iMessage, iCloud, the App Store). This bypass traffic goes directly to its destination, exactly as it would without the app.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, an anonymized crash report (stack trace, device model, OS version) is sent to a crash-reporting service that we host ourselves (Sentry, self-hosted). Crash reports contain no traffic data, no profile contents, no secrets, and no identifiers linked to you. There is no other analytics or tracking of any kind.

Your SSH credentials

Your credentials are used only to authenticate to your server, on your device. They are never transmitted to us.

Changes

Updates to this policy will be published at this page. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
